The late Mr. Rasheed S. Akintoye initiated the idea of what is today called Omo Ajorosun Club, Ibadan.
Early in 1980, he had a dream of forming a social club with members drawn from among his friends and acquitances. He discussed this idea with Alhaji Jimoh A. B. Akintoye, a childhood friend of his. Jab, as he is popularly known, embraced the idea and in turn contacted his friend, Alhaji Bayo Adebowale. After some preliminary chats over three months, the three of them thereafter met to formalize their discussions. Mr. G. Layiwola Adedoyin too joined them at the instance of Alhaji Adebowale. That was on June 1, 1980. At their first formal meeting to launch the club, they shared the executive offices among themselves as follows:-

All the while, the club was known as Lagelu Social Club although the name was not recognized. Afterwards a resolution was adopted by the four members to pick a new name distinct from that used by most upcoming clubs which had the word Lagelu in their appellations. Consequently the name "Omo Ajorosun Club, Ibadan" was adopted. A weekend in the month of June every year is set aside for Omo Ajorosun Day activities to commemorate the first formal meeting.
Although, the club started as a forum of relaxation for friends, the promotion of individual members' personal welfare soon became one of the club's main As time went by, membership had gone above twenty. In order to ensure quality admissions, the club has since established a standing membership screening committee to vet applications for membership of the club. As at today, the total membership is over two hundred made up of professionals in public and private enterprises.
The club was operating from rented apartments until 1993 when the president's club house was leased from the government of Oyo State. The club was since veered into the community, Scholarship awards, aids and gifts to the needy. A number of bus stops have also been built in various locations in Ibadan. The Club is looking into other areas to enhance its social service delivery status to the community.
